primitivo
Puglia Igp
We are in Puglia, near Gioia del Colle, one of the most renowned areas for producing this celebrated wine.
On the red and rocky soil, the iconic heart-shaped bush vines have always been cultivated, carefully safeguarding the clusters of Primitivo grapes. This unique cultivation method shields the precious grapes that ripen within from the sun.
Primitivo grape clusters grow close to the ground and mature earlier than other red grape varieties cultivated in the region. In fact, the name “Primitivo” stems from its early ripening nature, allowing it to be harvested and brought into the cellar before other red grape varieties.
The first red wine of Scuderia Italia’s organic line comes to life from the rare grape clusters of vines over 70 years old, cultivated as bush vines (characterized by very low yields), and others of 30 years, trained using the spurred cordon method. The soil is red, rich in iron oxides, and conceals a layer of limestone rock beneath.
Caring for this specific type of soil without using invasive products is an act of love and passion: for the environment, for the wine, and for those who enjoy it.
Our Primitivo is fresh and elegant.
Elegant aromas of blackberry, raspberry, sour cherry, sweet cherry, plum, and ripe damson are accompanied by delicate floral notes of violet with hints of thyme, tobacco, dried fruit, and licorice. To conclude, there’s an enveloping backdrop of aromatic herbs and graphite.
A fresh and balanced taste remarkably conceals the alcohol content of over 15 degrees.
Velvety tannins and juicy freshness. It emerges on the palate with wonderful olfactory echoes. The finish is long, almost endless, consistent, and incredibly rich.
